Synopsis :
Carla Morenová je ve svém pokoji kýmsi surově napadena a znásilněna. Nikdo, včetně manžela, jí ale nevěří, že útoky záhadné bytosti se opakují, ačkoli má tělo samou modřinu. Když se Carle nepochopitelným způsobem porouchá auto a ona se málem zabije, poslechne svou přítelkyni Cindy a vyhledá pomoc psychologa doktora Sneidermana. Ten s ní probírá její dětství a mládí a společně skládají mozaiku událostí, které by mohly nynější útoky vysvětlovat. Doktor Sneiderman usoudí, že útoky jsou jen Carliny představy, s jejichž pomocí se snaží vyrovnat s rozličnými životními traumaty. Carla s jeho závěry nesouhlasí a když ji chce doktor hospitalizovat, odmítne a rozhodne se čelit útokům dál sama a zůstat se svými dětmi. Nedlouho nato se Carla seznámí se dvěma parapsychology z místní univerzity, kteří ji vyslechnou a rozhodnou se věci přijít na kloub. K pokusu se dostaví i doktor Sneidrman, který parapsychologii nevěří a chce Carlu za každou cenu chránit...
